I literally just finished your book and I had tears in my eyes. What a wonderful gift you have given my generation with your stories. Each evening I would be transplanted to the Steens Mts while I read a few pages from your delicious book! I've found a kindred spirit in your love of the outdoors.
My life now is spent in a hospital as I work through a final year in internal medicine residency at Good Sam. I find reading about others' adventures instructive for my own resiliency. Have you read anything by Bethina Owens-Adair? A woman from Astoria much before your time but also inspiring. Keep writing! And best of luck with your garden this year. I plan on growing at least 4 varieties of lettuce provided the slugs don't get them first.
